چکیده

Background Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is among the most common malignant salivary gland tumors. Approximately 50% of patients develop distant metastases and up to one third die within 2 years. Chemotherapy provides limited benefit, and is not associated with a survival advantage. Radiotherapy is standard for localized disease, and is also commonly used for palliation of symptomatic metastases. Little is known about endogenous immune responses directed against ACC at baseline, or following conventional treatments. Therefore, we evaluated ACC specimens for infiltrating immune cells and expression of immune checkpoint ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2 and their receptor, PD-1, to guide future investigations of immunotherapy in ACC patients.

Primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma of shin

Primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma (PCACC) is a rare variant of adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) which originates from the skin adnexa, most probably eccrine and apocrine glands. This tumor has a head and neck predilection and also occurs in the chest, abdomen, back, and perineum. We hereby present a 63-year-old man with PCACC located on the shin. No previous similar case has been reporte...

Immunohistochemical Study of HER2/neu Overexpression in Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of Salivary Glands

Background and Objectives: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), the most common malignant tumor of submandibular and minor salivary glands, is characterized by a high rate of local recurrence and distant hematogenous metastasis and tendency to invade peripheral nerves. In spite of radiotherapy and surgical treatment, the long-term prognosis is dismal. Today, many studies are being conducted using...

Silver staining efficiency in differential diagnosis of adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) from polymorpheus low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA)

Objectives The aim of this study is finding a practical and easy way to differentiate, between two malignant tumors Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) and Polymorphous Low-grade Adeno Carcinoma (PLGA) histologically. In this regard, We proposed silver nitrate staining (AgNOR). Methods In this cross-sectional study, 30 parrafin-embedded blocks of ACC and 9 paraffin-embedded b...

Immunohistochemical Assessment of Ki-67 Expression in Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Salivary Glands

Objective Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant tumor originating from the salivary glands. It’s rather bland histological appearance that masks its ultimate biological aggressiveness. Evaluation of cell cycle and mitoses have been useful in predicting malignancy in many tumors. Ki-67 antigen is a human nuclear antigen that presents during all active phases of cell cycle. The aim ...

Human Cancer Biology Integrated, Genome-Wide Screening for Hypomethylated Oncogenes in Salivary Gland Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma

Purpose: Salivary gland adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignancy that is poorly understood. To look for relevant oncogene candidates under the control of promoter methylation, an integrated, genome-wide screen was conducted. Experimental Design: Global demethylation of normal salivary gland cell strains using 5-aza-20-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC) and trichostatin A (TSA), followed by exp...
